Caps are designed to be installed atop the flue or crown of the chimney. They are found on all types of chimneys, brick or prefabricated, so the construction of your chimney is what will determine whether you only need to have a chimney cap installed or replaced.

If you have a prefabricated chimney, it won’t have a built-in crown like a traditional brick chimney. The chase cover is designed for that job. It is a metal cover that is large enough to protect most of the surface area on its own, and a cap is installed in the center.
